As a policy, this is going to benefit some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged sections of the society.
The elderly, the widows and the disabled "should" be above politics.
"Should" be.
As it happens, this is a measure that was required "yesterday".
However, the Government thought it prudent to do this "now".
"Now" that the elections are near.
Regardless, it is a good move. It may earn the defending party some crucial goodwill and votes.
Talks about this adding to deficit etc. are baloney.
What adds to deficit is "wasteful" expenditure.
Spending on one's people's welfare is NOT wasteful.
If you believe that is the case, explain why America has stood for social security and so many social benefits for its hard-working people?
